Patient Case Studies
Dr. Nath,
While preparing for the South African Olympic swimming trials, Eugene experienced severe pain in his right shoulder. He was soon diagnosed with winging scapula. Although he had several therapy sessions with multiple doctors, his condition did not improve.
After researching the internet and talking to Dr. Nath, it became clear that he has the most knowledge and experience of winging scapula. Dr. Nath graciously accommodated Eugene in his very busy schedule to enable Eugene to go to the South African Olympic swimming trials.
Not only did Eugene regain the full use of his right arm after the operation, he also qualified for the Olympics in Athens in the 100M Butterfly and 400 Medley Relay.
Dr. Nath we will always be grateful for what you have done for Eugene and us.
Wishing you all of the best for the future.
Kind regards,
The B Family
Dear Dr. Nath,
It's been a very long time since I have talked to you... A little against my will I watched the video of me yesterday that is on your website... It is often hard for me to watch the video or see pictures of myself at that time because then I am forced to remember what I went through.
I think back and realize how many people have it worse off than I did but I think it was more than my arms not working fully it was the way I thought about myself more than anything. I was so depressed and had no self confidence and you gave that all back to me. My mom refers to you as "my miracle worker"... which in a way you are. I still would have had a life without my arms working fully but I wouldn't have had nearly the kind of life that you have allowed me to enjoy. I have never fully thanked you for what you did for me but it was only because I wasn't able to deal with what my life would have been like.
I am older now and very much so in love with the person I will spend my life with and every time I think how I would not have been able to hold my babies or even fold laundry, just the thought makes me cry. I owe so much to you and I will never be able to repay or even thank you enough. My scars are barely visible and my arms work just as well as any other persons... People still call and ask us about the surgery and I have nothing but positive things to say because that is all I have experienced. I do all the things that I used to and probably even more...
I have a new outlook on being thankful for life and the ability to live that life, because I've seen how quickly it can all change. You did so much more than "fix" my arms... you saved my life.
Thank you SO much,
J
Doctor Nath,
It has been a very long time since we last talked. I found your card in my desk today and I wanted to take just a minute to let you know how well Juli is doing. It has been almost 4 years since her last brachial plexus/thoracic nerve surgery and she continues to just "blossom". She is now 20 and in her 3rd year at Texas Woman's University. She is majoring in Social Work and just seems so comfortable with her educational choices. She works for our Construction Company 3 days a week doing payroll and other staff work along with a full load at school and her volunteer work at the Woman Shelter twice a week. She is just so pretty and has become quite a wonderful person...I don't know if you will ever know and understand what an impact you have had on our daughter's life.
I am sure that there are countless children that you have touched and healed over the years but I don't know if I can ever begin to explain how much you helped J. I realize that there are many people who have suffered more serious and disfiguring injuries but for our child, the need to "fit in" and be accepted has always been so important. In the beginning the injury slowed her down and even made us think that perhaps we would have to consider options that would include long term therapy or occupational assistance. All of her athletic activities stopped. She became very depressed. You took a chance and gave her a choice that no one else presented to us.
My daughter is now Whole and Lovely and just a wonderful girl and she will never forget that you helped her achieve her goals. She water-skis, rides dirt-bikes, snow-skis, rides horses, all the things she was afraid she would have to give up....not to mention she has regained her self esteem. Your gift has been a gift that she will always cherish. From all of us....we will always remember.
Sincerely,
The MKs

Doc,
There's a little bit of soreness, but nothing unbareable. I'm not doing any exercises because I can feel that the serratus is still a little weak, but it is definetly working.....probably overtime. I'll send you the pictures as soon as I can.
Best Regards,
R
Thanks for all that you have done. You have no idea what all this means to me.
